Overview of the Position: School is challenging for all students. Many students in our schools face additional challenges due to some type of disability, which may be physical, cognitive, emotional or behavioral. Educational Assistants/Job Coaches implement strategies under the direction and supervision of licensed teachers.The primary role of the Educational Assistant/Job Coach is to provide support for a student or group of students in a variety of settings (classroom, community, and work sites) throughout their school day. This particular position is for those interested in working with students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities in our Transition 15 Program. This program consists of students ages 18-22 who need assistance/supervision in most areas of their day. Educational Assistant/Job Coaches assist students with special needs with a variety of skills and abilities at school, in the community and in a variety of work sites. The Transition 15 program is a post high school special education transition program available to students of St. Francis Area Schools as determined by their Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams. The program focuses on the areas of transition which include post-secondary education, employment, independent living (including rec & leisure, community participation, home & daily). Perform other duties as assigned. All job specific training will be provided by the district at no cost to the employee.
