This role requires a comprehensive understanding of special education policies, regulations, and best practices. The Executive Director collaborates with district leadership, educators, and member districts to ensure equitable access to high-quality education for students with various learning and social-emotional needs. Typical Class Responsibilities: * Supervises special education administrators to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. * Provides leadership and oversight for the overall operations and administration of multiple assigned departments, programs, or functions, which includes overseeing the planning, staffing, coordinating, administering, and evaluating of programs, projects, processes, goals, procedures, systems, standards; oversees assigned areas to achieve strategic goals; and develops priorities for multiple assigned areas to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, codes, and standards. * Develops strategies, policies, and strategic plans for the assigned programs or departments. * Seeks and manages collaborative efforts with the Superintendent, the District, internal departments, and/or other interested parties to gain support for and/or advance District priorities. * Oversees assigned budgets and funds; approves expenditures; reviews financial statements; manages financial operations; maintains cost monitoring and control procedures; assures the efficient and economical use of department fiscal, human, facility, and time resources. * Prepares, maintains, reviews, and/or updates complex reports, contracts, proposals, abstracts, legal documents, and other materials. * Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Position Overview:

The Executive Director of Special Services oversees and advances the special education programs offered within Northeast Metro 916 and the services provided to our 13-member districts. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of special education policies, regulations, and best practices. The Executive Director collaborates with district leadership, educators, and member districts to ensure equitable access to high-quality education for students with various learning and social-emotional needs.
 

Typical Class Responsibilities: 

  • Supervises special education administrators to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for the overall operations and administration of multiple assigned departments, programs, or functions, which includes overseeing the planning, staffing, coordinating, administering, and evaluating of programs, projects, processes, goals, procedures, systems, standards; oversees assigned areas to achieve strategic goals; and develops priorities for multiple assigned areas to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, codes, and standards.
