Academic Interventionist: As a member of our Student Support Team, the academic interventionist works with students, families, and staff in order to improve the student experience so each child thrives at school. In addition to engaging families, working with students in small groups, the academic interventionist will teach one section of Huskie Seminar to 9th grade students. Huskie Seminar provides high school students academic and social emotional skills to be successful. Husky Seminar: Husky seminar is taken by all freshmen. This course is a curriculum based advisory with three goals: build connections and community in the school, equip students with 21st century skills, encourage students to know themselves, make thoughtful decisions and have personalized high school & post-high school plans. Students will have opportunities for group projects, college field trips, and will continue to develop critical skills that assist in the transition to high school. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. Provides Academic and Social Emotional Support * Advises students with academic and educational goals * Provides direct academic support in small group settings, teaching specific study habits. * Collaborates with teachers to provide students additional math, reading, writing support. Modeling to students academic literacy and math skills * Assists in the facilitation of Social Emotional Learning for all students. * Collaborates with the Student Support Team to proactively support students using student-centered approaches to success * Remains universally accessible and makes an effort to know every student. Encourages Family Engagement * Facilitates opportunities for staff, families, and the community to learn and engage in eliminating racialized achievement gaps and inequity in our community. * Collects and analyzes data that includes the voices and experiences of students and families as well as descriptions of the instruction delivered to students and process maps of decision making. * Works cooperatively and courageously with colleagues, teachers, and parents in the best interest of students as determined by stakeholders, including the students themselves. * Empowers all stakeholders by creating an atmosphere of validation, acceptance, respect, & inclusion Supports a Student-Centered Culture * Recognizes, responds to, and can redress inequities and support students and staff in fostering an unwavering belief in their capacity to grow. * Builds relationships with students and families by leading with care & dignity * Uses proactive and purposeful interactions with staff and students during the academic day to build a strong sense of community and belonging. * Assists classroom teachers in finding ways to celebrate student growth. * Amplifies the voices of our students in decision making situations. * Creates and serves as mentor for student group(s) focused on equity. * Must be able to complete all listed job duties and other duties as assigned by the building Principal. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: * Three years of experience in K-12 education requiring contact with historically marginalized communities. Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. * Driver&#8217;s License * Teaching License or ability to obtain Tier I teaching license PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
