Duties will be in addition to the typical Cultural Family Advocate (CFA) responsibilities. This includes creating and implementing programming, and building and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Qualifications: 1. Demonstrated leadership with successful outcomes for students and families 2. Prior success working with culturally and ethnically diverse students and their families in an educational setting 3. Knowledge of K-12 public school system and pathways to post-secondary education 4. Experience working effectively with and understanding the needs of culturally and ethnically diverse populations 5. Knowledge of issues related to cultural integration and intercultural competency 6. Proven success with creative solutions that include cultural sensitivity and cultural competency 7. Excellent oral and written communications skills, including cross cultural communication 8. Strong interpersonal skills and social-emotional learning skills, with the ability to build relationships and work with individuals, teams, and large groups of people 9. Multilingual skills preferred 10. Experience developing, presenting and facilitating professional workshops 11. Bachelor&#8217;s degree in education, behavioral sciences, social work, or related field required 12. Available for flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends 13. Must have reliable transportation to travel between sites as necessary 14. Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred. Responsibilities: 1. Partner with school and district administration and CFA staff to help diverse students and families understand and navigate the school system to achieve academic success 2. Collaborate with school staff to implement programs and appropriate activities that enhance student academic achievement and support students' full development in the school system 3. Provide support for district-wide equity initiatives 4. Develop and coordinate district-wide CFA schedule with Equity and Inclusion Coordinator 5. Provide on-going communication with K-12 administrators regarding CFA role 6. Partner with Coordinator to provide coaching and problem solving to CFA staff 7. Assist and support the CFA staff in developing student leadership groups. 8. Assist and support students with cultural adjustment and with academic and social-emotional-learning (SEL) needs 9. Act as a communication liaison between parents and schools through the use of email, phone calls, and home visits 10. Collaborate with schools to develop, implement, and evaluate family engagement activities 11. Facilitate family participation in conferences and other school and district activities 12. Provide support in a variety of situations that may arise due to cultural differences, and refer to professional staff when appropriate 13. Create presentations, inform and educate District 196 staff on issues related to cultural competency, equity and inclusion 14. Attend all Staff and Professional Development Meetings 15. Provide staff with information on community resources and the various cultures represented in their schools 16. Represent District 196 in community organizations and functions 17. Position Summary:
 
The Equity and Inclusion Specialist provides leadership and assists the Equity and Inclusion department with planning, family engagement, and coordinating professional development to increase student achievement and engagement.
