Surad Academy is a new charter school authorized to open in fall 2024 in St. Paul, MN. The school&#8217;s board is comprised of highly successful individuals from education, health care, finance, and politics. The architect of the programming is an internationally celebrated education social entrepreneur whose schools have sent hundreds of students from an unrecognized breakaway part of Somalia to global scholarships, including 7 Ivy league Universities, MIT, and Cambridge. Our focus is now on seeing this same level of results in St. Paul. Position Overview & Responsibilities We are building our founding faculty team, who will be tasked with leading students through an active learning journey that meets children at their current level and then builds the foundation from which they can soar. Rather than worksheets and textbooks, our students learn from games, experiments, technology, and rigorous intellectual discussion that stimulate their enjoyment while challenging their brains. Instead of traditional grading, Irrawaddy uses an expansive mastery tracking system that includes key life skills such as executive function, strategic thinking, and community building. At Irrawaddy, the faculty inspire, emotionally develop, and bring out the type of higher-level thinking that students will need for lifetime success. Faculty will be responsible for instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parents and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives and learning professionally. Start date: August 1, 2024 FTE: 1.0 Contract: 185 days Requirements & Qualifications All licensed/certified teaching positions require licensure by the State of Minnesota.
