PowerSchool Administrator/Data Analyst Reports to: Chief Academic Officer Job Category: School Year – Salaried Professional Employees FTE 1.0 Position Summary HCPA is a Title I Charter School that serves students through a school-wide plan for instruction that is focused on the needs of at-risk students. The PowerSchool Administrator/Data Analyst is responsible for the technical administration of PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Pro, and Powerschool customizations. Experienced with Autocomm, Autosend, Data Export Manager, PowerQueries, Object Reports, and Reportworks. Responsibilities * PowerSchool Administrator assists and trains school administrators, faculty, and staff with using these programs. The PowerSchool Administrator should be skilled in analyzing user requirements and designing functional specifications for extending PowerSchool (and edge systems as needed) to include new functionality, such as enhanced reporting and data. * PowerSchool Administrator should be able to assist with the systems administration and data integration of other information systems in use at Hmong College Prep Academy; including Schoology Learning Management System, Destiny Library, Viewpoint Data Warehouse, Primero Food Service, and SRC Registration gateways, as well as others. * This position will interact with students, faculty and staff, as well as the IT Department and vendors, so this person should have the ability to deal with a variety of users at different levels of technical skills and knowledge. This person should have good communication skills. * Maintain the current PowerSchool and PowerTeacher Pro environments, including user accounts and security groups/roles, and recommend improvements in processes and workflows according to PowerSchool best practices. * Plan, implement, coach and train for new releases and program updates. PowerSchool is hosted and lags one version back. HCPA updates to new version each summer. * Create and maintainadvanced reporting capabilitieswithin PowerSchool. * Create, maintain and implement Powerschool customizations and plugins. * Monitor ongoing operations and data integrity and do periodic student data audits. Support data analysis, student assessments and grading, and other reporting needs. * Work with other school staff to align PowerSchool and PowerTeacher Pro parameters (system configurations) to academic and other policies. * Maintain appropriate system documentation on procedures and configurations. * Provide technical assistance and user support for IT tickets and issues related to PowerSchool and Schoology. Other * Supervise student activities, which may include: o Bus duty – assist with walking students to the busses at the end of the day o Breakfast and/or lunch duty – assist with monitoring based on a rotational schedule Required Qualifications * BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or related area. * Minimum 3 years experience managing a PowerSchool student information system and PowerTeacher Pro gradebook. * Advanced SQL, scripting, HTML, and reporting skills. Oracle and web application development desirable. Competent in PowerSchool object reports and ReportWorks. * Ability to reconcile and analyze large datasets. Advanced Excel expertise. Attention to detail. * Academic software knowledge and experience (LMS, Content Management Systems, etc.) Experience with Learning Support and Student Assessment systems and/or other types of data analysis systems. * Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to multi-task, plan timelines, and coordinate with various departments; excellent time management, self-motivated. Formal credential evaluation is required for post-secondary education completed outside of the United States. Work Environment/Conditions • Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is a multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible. • Position requires extensive interaction with children of all ages. • Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; children speaking or laughing loudly). • Operate standard equipment (computer, fax machine, telephone, copier machines, etc.). • Fast-paced environment. • Requires frequent keyboarding which calls for repetitive motion and rapid eye movements, frequent use of the telephone. • Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time, ability to push, reach, or bend. • Work may require weekend and/or evening work and some travel may be required.
