Qualifications
* Appropriate Minnesota Teaching License
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education
* Strong belief that all learners have the ability to learn and achieve success
* Strong understanding of behavior management principles, behavior assessments, and research based intervention plans
* Experience working with students of diverse needs and background across various educational settings
* Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and due process procedures
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, staff and multidisciplinary teams
* Expertise in designing, implementing, and differentiating instruction to accelerate students' achievement including ongoing data analysis
* Experience in and knowledge of equity principles and cultural competencies to increase student success
* Ability to establish and maintain trustful, confidential and supportive relationships with staff while working collaboratively toward the common goal of student success
* Collaborates with staff regarding the needs of students by communicating accurately, preserving confidentiality of information, and sharing best teaching practices or procedures available to best meet the needs of our students
* Proficient in utilizing restorative practices to address the needs of the school community, build healthy relationships, reduce unexpected student behaviors, repair harm, build positive relationships, encourage student reflection, hold students accountable and resolve conflicts as they occur
Responsibilities
* Implement behavior intervention strategies to address and mitigate disruptive behaviors, fostering a conducive learning environment for students with diverse needs
* Provide consultation and education with behavior intervention plans, and behavior management techniques for prevention, and crisis management of behavioral challenges
* Support students with behavioral challenges
* Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegrating students back into the classroom
* Collaborate with teachers, administration, students and families to help students succeed
* Use identified research-based interventions and strategies to meet individual student needs
* Provide data to school MTSS teams and participate in decisions about student progress
* Assist with identifying students for potential placement in intervention, special education evaluations and support groups
* Participate in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student progress
