The successful candidate will make a positive contribution to improving student academic and social/emotional behaviors in support of our mission. The successful candidate will teach sections of study skills, social skills, functional academic skills and functional life skills to 7-12th grade students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Other courses may be taught as determined by the needs of students. Maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community. * Work collaboratively with parents and other staff members to reinforce the educational program and advocate for each student. * Thorough knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations. * Ability to adhere to due process timelines and complete individualized education plan and evaluation paperwork to guide educational programming * Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide effective teaching strategies while adhering to the district philosophy and vision. * Create a classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners. * Translate lesson plans into learning experience in a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies. * Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
