Job Summary: The Ojibwe Language/Native Studies Teacher&#8217;s role is to provide students with an introduction into Native culture, history, and some Ojibwe language. Emphasis will be placed on someone who can bring students together to better understand one another, build and strengthen bonds, and solve community problems. It will provide a way for people to have conversations and to work through conflict or differences in a safe and productive way. This class will allow students to learn and practice communication skills, negotiating, community building, conflict resolution, talking about specific issues, staff and youth team building, staff meetings, to develop community standards for how people work and live together, and problem solving. The process is a way of getting the most complete picture of whatever issue is at hand to enable participants to move together in a good way and to build and maintain a healthy community. We share our stories, learn about ourselves, each other and gain a better understanding of what it's like to be in another person's shoes.
