The Director of Finance and Operations serves as the district's chief financial officer, is a member of the Superintendent's administrative team, and sits on multiple district and building level committees and task forces designed to address school district operations. District Information: Waconia Public Schools is a growing school district located approximately 25 miles west of Minneapolis. The district serves nearly 4,000 students from the communities of Waconia, Victoria, Minnetrista, Saint Bonifacius and New Germany. The district facilities include an educational services and enrichment center, an area learning center, a transition program, three elementary schools (K-5), one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include: Planning, organizing, preparing and monitoring the school district's budget; overseeing the business, building and grounds, technology and nutritional services, departments; managing all accounting processes, controls and procedures; monitoring and ensuring all accounting processes meet UFARS requirements; overseeing and coordinating all auditing processes and implementation of audit findings; performing financial analysis to assess the financial condition of the school district; preparing and presenting financial forecasts and reports on the financial condition of the school district to the Board of Education and Superintendent; determining and making recommendations concerning bond issues and operational levies regarding their tax impact, cash management, fiscal agent and reporting requirements; negotiating the district's transportation, health, safety, worker's compensation, and dental insurance contracts; collaborating with human resources on staffing and personnel services; participating in all negotiation and mediation sessions and developing, preparing and compiling financial data and information needed for collective bargaining. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related area is required. Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting and/or Certified Public Accountant Certification preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of accounting and finance experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience are required. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in researching, interpreting and analyzing financial data, and possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, community stakeholders, and others to achieve School District goals.
