Effective immediately the Buildings and Grounds office will accept applications for District Building Maintenance. LOCATION: District Wide Hours: This is an 8-hour per day position, 5 days per week; start time may vary depending on assigned work area and buildings schedule. LINE OF AUTHORITY: Responsible to the Director of Operations; Facilities Manager, Facilities Technician and Grounds Foreman RATE OF PAY: $25.44 - $27.18 per the 2021-2023 salary schedule for local #70 Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following: * Primary substitute for Building Engineer and Day Custodian * During non-school days and when there are no vacancies this person would report to the grounds * Waters, cuts, trims lawns, trees, shrubs etc. * Prepares fields for athletic events * Sets up athletic equipment * Operates trucks, plows, front end loaders, athletic field equipment, commercial lawn mowers, and other grounds equipment and vehicles * Performs regular custodial duties such as mopping, sweeping, dumping trash, cleaning glass, vacuuming, changing light bulbs etc. * Locks and unlocks doors in building according to the scheduled activities * Set-up and clean-up for special events * Pick up trash outside the building and assist in removal of snow as required * Must learn basic building automation control Working Conditions: Grease, oil, vapors, engine noise, heat, extreme climatic conditions are common in this work. Although minimized by safety practices, accidents and physical hazards connected with this work are always present. Tasks involve lifting, stooping, bending, carrying, operating motor vehicles and long periods of standing, sitting or walking Physical Requirements: This position requires good physical conditioning, manual dexterity, upper body strength, good depth perception, endurance, eye-hand coordination, and agility with no serious defect of vision, hearing or members. Must be able to repetitively lift 75# on a regular basis. Contacts and Relationships: Persons in this position come into contact with teachers, students, parents, staff etc. Communication, personal appearance, cooperative attitude, willingness to assist, and establish good working relationships are essential. Minimum Qualifications: * Special boilers license or ability to obtain within 6 months * Knowledge or ability to learn and operate Building Automation System * Restrictions that would prevent the operation of any district vehicle is not allowed.
