The position demonstrates enthusiasm and advocacy for Hillcrest in all interactions; and plans a program of study that utilizes classical instruction techniques. Position Requirements &#8226; Reflect the purpose of the school; honoring Christ in every class and in every activity &#8226; Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith &#8226; Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school &#8226; Teach classes as assigned; integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities &#8226; Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises &#8226; Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom &#8226; Plan a program of study that utilizes classical instruction techniques &#8226; Recognize the need for good public relations; represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the public &#8226; Demonstrate enthusiasm and advocacy for Hillcrest in all interactions &#8226; Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration; communicate student progress effectively &#8226; Follow the Matthew 18 principles regarding questions, concerns, or problems or when dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff and administration &#8226; Maintain a teachable attitude &#8226; Attend and participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, and/or gatherings &#8226; Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature &#8226; Maintain professional appearance and interact cooperatively with others &#8226; Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations and outings, as assigned &#8226; Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth &#8226; Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities &#8226; Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities &#8226; Perform other related and non-related tasks as assigned Personal Qualities &#8226; Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior &#8226; Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education &#8226; Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others; including being committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40) &#8226; Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith &#8226; Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living &#8226; Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that task Skills and Abilities &#8226; Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with strong constituency building skill; able to interact with students and families from various backgrounds &#8226; Have spiritual maturity, academic ability and personal leadership qualities &#8226; Work without daily oversight &#8226; Confident, enthusiastic, and capable &#8226; Able to manage necessary software and database &#8226; Use acceptable English in written and oral communication; speak with clear articulation &#8226; Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality &#8226; Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority Education and Experience &#8226; Bachelor&#8217;s Degree, certified or certifiable &#8226; Previous experience with Google Apps and Microsoft Office is preferred Physical Requirements &#8226; Walking, standing, and sitting throughout the day &#8226; Able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally &#8226; Able to move safely over various terrain, between buildings, up/down stair
