Description: The Secondary Art Teacher is responsible to plan, organize and implement an appropriate learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential base on HOPE&#8217;s instructional curriculum for students. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. Primary duties: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) &#8226; Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning &#8226; Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment &#8226; Prepare classroom for class activities and implements goals, objectives and standards of the school &#8226; Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instructions &#8226; Evaluate student performance through examinations and homework assignments to promote student achievement. Provide appropriate feedback on work. &#8226; Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems; assess student academic and behavioral needs by establishing and enforcing school rules and procedures. &#8226; Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students&#8217; progress and interpret the school program. &#8226; Clearly communicate assessment criteria to parents; and involve parents/guardians in meaningful ways to maximize student learning and achievement. &#8226; Maintain accurate and complete records of students&#8217; progress and development &#8226; Prepare required reports on students and activities &#8226; Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. &#8226; Performs classroom management duties, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Qualifications: &#8226; B.A/B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field of teaching &#8226; Minnesota State Licensure in teaching in appropriate subject area &#8226; Strong desire and commitment to working with diverse students and staff &#8226; Ability and flexibility to interact effectively with students, parents, and other school staff, the administration, and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. &#8226; Ability to collaborate with grade level teachers, paraprofessionals, and tutors regarding instructional classroom activities &#8226; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing &#8226; Have knowledge of best practices, instructional strategies, classroom management and behavior management &#8226; Ability to plan and implement lesson plans base on school goals, as well as the objectives, and needs of students. &#8226; Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations &#8226; Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology, as appropriate. &#8226; Knowledge of classroom management and organization About the School: HOPE Community Academy is an accredited, public co-educational charter school comprised of primary, intermediate, and middle school levels.
