Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Public School is seeking a full-time K-6 Physical Educadtion and DAPE Insturctor to teach students about life-long fitness and good health. The Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Public School District is centrally located, just an hour's drive from St. Cloud, two hours from the Twin Cities, 30 minutes from Alexandria, and three hours from Duluth. Our community is surrounded by picturesque lakes, parks, and hosts one of the last Drive-In Movie theaters in Minnesota. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Public School serves a diverse community, including individuals of European, Mexican, Caribbean, and various other nationalities. A significant portion, fifty-two percent, of our student population identifies as Hispanic, and we are also home to an active Amish population in Todd County. Our district encompasses the communities of Grey Eagle, Burtrum, and Long Prairie. We are a district that believes in providing quality professional develpoment and mentoring to our students. We provide periodic staff development days to provide training and provide work time between quarters. We have one to one student devices with a technology coordinator, tech assistant, and a part-time technology integrationist. We have robusts community and 21st century education programs that provide enrichment activities, classes, and opportunties for our students before and after school. We provide after school and summer programming to all students in our district. We partner with local mental health providers to provide additional supports to both students and adults. Additionally, the teacher strives to foster an understanding of the importance of exercise for physical and mental well-being and motivate students to work towards physical fitness, hygiene, and good health. Essential Functions: * Develop and administer Physical Education classes in alignment with school district goals and objectives. * Teach knowledge of and develop skills and abilities in physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports. * Foster students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills, providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and offering appropriate feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. * Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical education activities, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs. * Continuously acquire professional knowledge and stay abreast of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or conducting research. * Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. * Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents. * Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and district policies, establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. * Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within physical education and grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees. * Select and requisition appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory records. * Inspect equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order. Experience:

  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
