AREA SPECIAL EDUCATION COOPERATIVE Full-Time &#8211; Due Process Facilitator is available Fall 2024, position open until filled. * 180-day contract * Flexible with where you reside as we provide services to 11 member school districts: Ada-Borup-West, Climax-Shelly, East Grand Forks, Fertile-Beltrami, Fosston, Red Lake County Central, Red Lake Falls, Stephen-Argyle Central, Warren-Alvarado-Oslo, and Win-E-Mac * Competitive Compensation based on degree and experience * Health & Life Insurance, Sick & Personal Leave, 403B Matching and TRA POSITION OVERVIEW: * The Due Process Facilitator assists in planning, assessing, developing, and implementing special education due process procedures and/or special education programs. MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Provides support to due process procedures and compliance requirements. * Special education due process procedures; compliance with state and federal laws; educational programming for students with disabilities; identification of students with disabilities, ages birth 21; inclusion; web-based special education forms. * Carryout implementation of compliance monitoring, data collection, surveys, information requests and others as directed by the MN Department of Education and the Directors of the Area Special Education Cooperative. * Monitor and review IEPs of the students with disabilities and those transferring into the districts. * Support in the development of transition processes from one program or level to the next including early childhood, elementary, middle, high school, and transition to work. * Ensure compliance with timelines and accuracy for Individual Education Programs and reevaluations by working with the district administrators and school-based staff. Provides professional development to teachers/administration in areas of responsibility. * Facilitate training across the cooperative to improve services and due process procedures within special education. * Collaboratively plans and provides in-service programs for staff and district personnel. Professional Development * Attends training sessions, seminars, department meetings. * Inform staff of changes in federal law, state regulations and/or local guidelines and update manuals to reflect such changes. Performs other duties as assigned. Examples may include: * Assist teachers in reviewing data and writing goals. * Assist special education teachers with writing IEPs . * Facilitate in the maintenance and management of SpEd Forms * Review services and programming for students with disabilities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: * Current Minnesota teaching license required in Special Education (multiple licenses preferred) Special Knowledge/Skills: * Current knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations and procedures * Skilled in administering, scoring and interpreting special education assessment tools * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others * Considerable knowledge of leadership and management principles * Able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulations outlined by FERPA * Knowledge of teaching principles, practices, techniques and approaches * Knowledge of child development theories and development stages and needs * Knowledge of current trends, theories and technologies pertaining to learning and instruction CONTACT INFORMATION: * If you have any questions about this position, please contact Tiffany Litman (218) 773-0315 or tlitman@asec.net<mailto:tlitman@asec.net>.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

  • The Due Process Facilitator assists in planning, assessing, developing, and implementing special education due process procedures and/or special education programs.


MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Provides support to due process procedures and compliance requirements.

  • Special education due process procedures; compliance with state and federal laws; educational programming for students with disabilities; identification of students with disabilities, ages birth 21; inclusion; web-based special education forms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Current Minnesota teaching license required in Special Education (multiple licenses preferred)

  • Skilled in administering, scoring and interpreting special education assessment tools

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

  • Considerable knowledge of leadership and management principles

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulations outlined by FERPA
