Delano Public Schools is seeking a passionate and experienced Food Service Director to lead our dynamic team and ensure the success of our district's nutritious and delicious school meals program! About Delano Public Schools: Delano Public Schools is a thriving district located in Delano, Minnesota, serving approximately 2,400 students across multiple schools. We are committed to providing a healthy and enriching learning environment for all students, and our food service program plays a vital role in supporting their success. About the Role: As the Food Service Director, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the district's food service program. This includes, but is not limited to: * Leadership and Vision: * Develop and implement a strategic vision for the district's food service program, aligning with district goals and student needs. * Foster a positive and professional work environment for all food service staff. * Oversee all aspects of food service operations, including meal planning, menu development, purchasing, inventory control, and production. * Financial Management: * Develop and manage the food service budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with all applicable regulations. * Monitor food costs and implement strategies to maximize revenue while maintaining high-quality meals. * Prepare and submit required reports to the district administration and state agencies. * Menu Development and Nutrition: * Development of nutritious and appealing menus that meet USDA guidelines and student preferences. * Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in school nutrition and incorporate them into the program. * Work closely with school staff and families to address dietary restrictions and promote healthy eating habits. * Supervision and Staff Development: * Provide effective leadership and oversight to food service staff at all levels. * Recruit, hire, train, and mentor staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional service. * Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development for all food service personnel. * Communication and Collaboration: * Collaborate effectively with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community members to build a strong support system for the food service program. * Maintain open communication channels with staff and address their concerns promptly. * Advocate for the importance of school meals and their impact on student learning and well-being. * Work with staff at two private schools that the district provides meals for during the school year Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. * SNA Level 4 Certification preferred. * Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a school food service program. * Strong understanding of USDA Child Nutrition Programs and regulations. * Demonstrated knowledge of food safety principles and sanitation procedures. * Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and accounting practices. * Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively. * Passion for school nutrition and a commitment to providing high-quality meals for students. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Proficient in use of Google and/or Microsoft Office programs. Compensation and Benefits: Delano Public Schools offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off. This position will be placed on an individual contract and is set to begin July 2024. This is a 210 work day position plus 7 paid holidays.
