LONG PRAIRIE-GREY EAGLE SCHOOL DISTRICT #2753 JOB DESCRIPTION CLASSIFICATION: Food Service Director POSITION TITLE: Food Service Director Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent or Designated Administrator JOB SUMMARY: The Food Service Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations within the school district. This includes meal planning, preparation, compliance with USDA regulations, staff supervision, inventory management, equipment maintenance, management of the food service budget, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred. * High School Graduate or equivalent required, with additional courses in food preparation, nutrition, and management. * Prior experience in food service management, preferably in an educational setting. * Comprehensive knowledge of food handling and storage procedures, inventory management, meal planning, and USDA regulations. * Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate kitchen staff. * Proficiency in implementing health and safety regulations, modeling proper hygiene practices, and ensuring a sanitary work environment. * Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for coordinating with staff, administrators, and vendors. * Ability to plan menus that meet USDA guidelines, accommodate dietary restrictions, and appeal to students. WORKING CONDITIONS: May involve heavy lifting and standing for extended periods.
