ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Design and teach Health programs that are based on the current IEP or assessed needs of each student and provide research-based, quality instruction to each student in the least restrictive environment. * Develop Health lesson plans for grades 7 and 8, in addition to our Foundation students, that ensure the attainment of state/district and/or national learning standards. * Collaborate as part of the IEP team as a general education representative; attending all qualified meetings with staff and parents and providing necessary information on student progress. * Model, implement and evaluate strategies related to learning, social, emotional and behavioral needs to enhance Health curriculum. * Participate in professional growth activities including conferences, workshops, coursework, committees, etc. * Work cooperatively in sharing knowledge, skill and expertise with others and consult with teachers regarding best practices for classroom programming. * Maintain positive, professional relationships and use appropriate verbal, nonverbal and written communication with all individuals. * Regular, prompt attendance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above, in addition to the following: 1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit. 2. The employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb steps; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 3. Employee is occasionally required to drive. 4. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). 5. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. 6. Noise level is that of a typical school or office setting.
