Physical Education Teacher K-8-Part Time-Innovation Science and Technology Academy, 2024/2025 School Year Position: Physical Education K-8-Part Time, 2024/2025 School Year Type of Job: 0.5 FTE Physical Education Teacher-K-8 Innovation Academy is looking for creative and results-driven teachers who will be responsible for instructing students in a STEM elementary school from grades K-8. The goal-oriented physical education teacher must have the ability to develop students' physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students' understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being; and to motivate students to work towards, physical fitness, hygiene, and good health. The candidate must be culturally responsive. Overall, be skilled in the ability to create a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Start Date: July 2021 (or later based upon availability) Job Responsibilities &#8226; Understand and support Innovation Academy&#8217;s mission and vision while promoting a positive image of the school &#8226; Ability to develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives. &#8226; Integrate competencies, goals, and STEM objectives into lesson plans &#8226; Ability to teach knowledge of, and develops skills and abilities in physical fitness &#8226; Ability to develop students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills while supporting a PBIS framework &#8226; Ability to conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs &#8226; Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities using data-driven &#8226; Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students &#8226; Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction &#8226; Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff &#8226; Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required &#8226; Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines &#8226; Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus &#8226; Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served Skills Needed &#8226; Ability to develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with the school&#8217;s vision and mission &#8226; Ability to teach knowledge of, and develop skills and abilities in physical fitness &#8226; Develop students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills while supporting a PBIS framework &#8226; Ability to conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs &#8226; Highly developed oral and written communication skills &#8226; Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students &#8226; Demonstration of continued professional development through coursework, action research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development &#8226; Prior success with diverse learners is desirable &#8226; Experience developing and implementing curriculum while having the ability to integrate STEM into the daily schedule &#8226; Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room &#8226; Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment &#8226; Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum &#8226; Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc.) Qualifications/Experiences &#8226; Minimum of Bachelor's degree from an accredited university &#8226; Current Minnesota Physical Education teaching license Salary: Competitive About the School: Innovation Academy is a tuition-free charter school that opened in the Fall 2020 for PreK-5 and expanding to PreK-8 the 5th year of opening.
