Middle School Social Studies Teacher 6-8-Full Time-Innovation Science and Technology Academy, 2024/2025 School Year Position: Middle School Social Studies Teacher-6-8, 2024/2025 School Year Type of Job: 1.0 FTE Middle School Social Studies Teacher-6-8 Innovation Academy is looking for creative and results-driven teachers who will be responsible for instructing students in a STEM school from grades 6-8. The goal-oriented teachers must have the ability to create lesson plans with STEM integration, be culturally responsive, instruct students on subjects such as science, reading, math, writing, and lab activities. Start Date: August 2024 (or later based upon availability) Job Responsibilities * Understand and support Innovation Academy&#8217;s mission and vision while promoting a positive image of the school * Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities using data-driven * Develops and administers Social Studies curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives * Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop unit organization around historical problems, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction * Teaches knowledge of social studies, incorporating history, geography, economics, political science, systems of government, education, responsible citizenship, and humanities * Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students * Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction * Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff * Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required * Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines * Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus * Integrate competencies, goals, and STEM objectives into lesson plans * Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served Skills Needed * Ability to teach standard-based curriculum * Ability to give standard -based assessments * Ability to hold students to high expectations * Highly developed oral and written communication skills * Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students. * Demonstration of continued professional development through coursework, action research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development * Prior success with diverse learners is desirable * Experience developing and implementing curriculum while having the ability to integrate STEM into the daily schedule * Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room * Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment * Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum * Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc.) Qualifications/Experiences * Minimum of Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. * Valid MN Social Studies License * Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students preferred * Salary: Competitive * About the School: Innovation Academy is a tuition-free charter school that opened Fall 2020 for PreK-5 and expanding to PreK-8 in the 5th year of opening, FY 25.
