ESL Teacher K-8-Full Time-Innovation Science and Technology Academy, 2024/2025 School Year Position: ESL Teacher-K-8 Type of Job: 1.0FTE ESL Teacher-K-8 Innovation Academy is looking for creative and results-driven teachers who will be responsible for instructing students in a STEM elementary school from grades PreK-8. The goal-oriented ESL teacher is responsible for teaching and supporting students with language acquisition skills, translating and Access and WIDA testing. Pedagogically, best practices are encouraged and innovation expected. The candidate must be culturally responsive, instruct students on subjects such as science, reading, math, writing, and lab activities. Start Date: August 2024 (or later based upon availability) Job Responsibilities * Understand and support Innovation Academy&#8217;s mission and vision while promoting a positive image of the school &#8226; Administer tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language ability. Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student achievement; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. &#8226; Create school-wide ELL goals based on ACCESS data. &#8226; Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, reporting and policies pertaining to EL. &#8226; Participate in regular professional development, the school's professional learning community and staff meetings to improve instruction. &#8226; Instruct English learner students for the purpose of improving their success in academics and skills. &#8226; Integrate competencies, goals, and STEM objectives into lesson plans &#8226; Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served &#8226; Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration. &#8226; Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements. &#8226; Model English communication for the purpose of developing student ability to communicate effectively in the English language. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, cafeteria, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. &#8226; Adapt classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans and building academic English and content knowledge. &#8226; Participate in a variety of meetings (e.g. 504, IEPs, teacher/parent meetings, data meetings) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to optimize student learning. &#8226; Meet professional obligations by honoring schedules, deadlines, and all professional responsibilities. &#8226; Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. &#8226; Other duties as assigned. &#8226; Work with administration to create benchmark assessments and monitor data of individual student progress toward attainment benchmark indicators and proficiency growth. &#8226; Demonstrate the standards for effective practices of teachers. &#8226; Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan. &#8226; Work collaboratively and communicate professionally with school leadership and other staff members to maximize effective instructional activities and build positive school culture. &#8226; Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff &#8226; Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required &#8226; Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines &#8226; Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus &#8226; Work closely with other members of the Special Education Team (teachers, social worker, paraprofessionals, administration) and general education staff to ensure high quality, compliant service is being provided for identified students Skills Needed &#8226; Ability to teach and support ELL students; collaborate with classroom teachers; plan a program of study; evaluate and test students for qualification into the ELL program. &#8226; Experience developing and implementing curriculum while having the ability to integrate STEM into the daily schedule &#8226; Understanding of the ELL qualifications and testing process for students &#8226; Ability to coordinate the school ELL program. &#8226; Collaborate with colleagues to carry out Multi-tiered System of Supports including Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. &#8226; Highly developed oral and written communication skills &#8226; Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students &#8226; Demonstration of continued professional development through coursework, action research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development &#8226; Prior success with diverse learners is desirable &#8226; Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room &#8226; Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment &#8226; Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum &#8226; Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc.) Qualifications/Experiences &#8226; Minimum of Bachelor's degree from an accredited university &#8226; Requires Licensure as an ESL/ELL Teacher. ·         Administer tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language ability.
