The Executive Director executes a strategic plan to ensure mission and vision attainment through improved teaching and learning, excellent school communications and operations, and financial sustainability. As the district identifies an ideal enrollment size, an Executive Director is responsible for effectively managing and scaling an increasingly complex organization. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will manage the performance of school leaders and staff. Responsibilities An Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the vision attainment, academic performance, and sustainability of the organization. In order to do so, an Executive Director&#8217;s key responsibilities include: Developing and executing on the school&#8217;s future focused vision. * Internalize and advocate for the school&#8217;s future-focused mission and vision by ensuring that all school activities are clearly supporting student success after graduation. * Work with the board, key partners and the leadership team to implement the 2024-2027 strategic plan with fidelity. * In alignment with goals set in the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, set clear academic, growth, operational, and financial goals and manage them. * Manage strong systems including finance, legal compliance, enrollment, board compliance and communication relationships with staff, families and the broader charter school community. Building and managing a high-performing team * Develop, evaluate, coach and support district leadership and direct reports. * Ensure that strategic priorities are implemented with fidelity, that progress is monitored actively and that adjustments are made effectively to achieve goals. * Build and support a strong, cohesive culture that reflects core values and leads to a strong and aligned identity. * Drive alignment across schools (including curriculum and instructional alignment), and provide key supports that drive academic achievement and character development. * Introduce strong and consistent accountability systems to ensure progress toward shared goals. Promote transparent decision-making processes and embrace distributive leadership principles over time. Building the short and long-term organizational capacity and brand * Develop and manage a talent pipeline to ensure quality, vision-aligned professionals across all positions. * Manage and improve systems to meet the varied needs of a growing organization, including financial management, budget planning, compliance, human resources (including teacher and school leader recruitment and development) contract negotiation, facilities management, vendor management, fundraising and marketing, legal, and information technology. * Ensure that the school has a viable long-term financial plan and a diversified and sustainable funding base. In particular, ensure the school is maximizing all public revenue sources. * Oversee marketing efforts, branding initiatives, and advocacy work on behalf of the school. This includes and not limited to the following: * Drives relentlessly to achieve exceptional outcomes on behalf of kids, and does so by demonstrating clear intellect, setting and achieving goals, and managing with grit and tenacity. * Establishes academic vision and goals and takes ultimate responsibility for ensuring instructional quality, best practices and academic performance across the organization. * When scaling, increases the efficiency and effectiveness of operations in order to drive even strong results in school performance schools. * Operates with an exceptional level of self-awareness, humility and integrity in all interactions. * Builds relationships marked by trust, integrity and respect, and does so with a variety of stakeholders including teachers, leaders, students, parents, community members, Board members and donors. * Believes that the essential purpose of his/her work will be to support and develop leaders, teachers and staff members. * Inspires and effectively manages staff to achieve extraordinary results, and offers a clear vision and direction for staff members district wide. Qualifications * Experience working with low-income communities, and in particular working with children from low-income backgrounds to achieve exceptional results in academics, sports, the arts and community service. * A proven track record of success in building and/or managing a complex organization or enterprise (e.g., a high-performing school or network of schools, a successful non-profit or for-profit organization) * A minimum of a bachelor&#8217;s degree from a four-year college or university.
