reports to: School Principal Position Description The Arabic/Somali teacher is responsible for delivering the language acquisition course for selected grades, offering the best possible linguistic and academic educational experience to students with Arabic and Somali as another language. Duties and Responsibilities * Plan, initiate and guide the units of study in Arabic/Somali which involve speaking, listening, writing, and reading * Create and evaluate assessments of each student’s work and keep records updated * Foster thought, discussion, reading comprehension, linguistic analysis and a consistent work ethic * Communicate regularly and constructively with peers, administrators, students, and parents * Set and assign appropriate homework on a regular basis to reinforce student learning and to prepare them for further class activities * Use teaching methods engaging students, stimulating intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, presentation and resources * Set high expectations for students behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships as in accordance with the School’s policy and the IB standards Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). * Valid teaching certification/license. * Prior experience teaching in a K-8 setting, preferably in an online or virtual environment. * Proficiency in using online teaching platforms and educational technology tools. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of online teaching and learning. * Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. * Passion for education and a dedication to student success.
