This role requires fluency in the Anishinaabe language, knowledge of cultural practices, and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. The instructor will create a supportive classroom environment, foster cultural identity, and build strong connections with students and families. Key Responsibilities: &#9679; Instructional Delivery: Teach courses including Introduction to Anishinaabe Language, Anishinaabe II, and Anishinaabe Studies, using engaging and culturally relevant methods to support language acquisition and cultural understanding. &#9679; Language Proficiency: Effectively communicate in the Anishinaabe language in both classroom and social contexts, modeling appropriate language use and cultural values. &#9679; Student Engagement: Develop lessons that respect students&#8217; diverse learning abilities, styles, and rates, adapting instruction as needed to meet individual needs. &#9679; Classroom Environment: Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and fosters a positive atmosphere. &#9679; Community and Family Engagement: Build positive relationships with students and families, encouraging active participation in students&#8217; cultural and language learning. &#9679; Course Planning: Demonstrate expertise in Anishinaabe language and cultural studies, planning lessons and activities that align with educational standards and student needs. &#9679; Mentorship and Leadership: Serve as a role model and mentor, fostering students&#8217; interest in Anishinaabe heritage and guiding them toward personal and academic growth. &#9679; Administrative Skills: Use Google Docs, Google Classroom, Skyward, and other platforms for record-keeping, assignments, and communication with students and families. This position requires strong knowledge of American Indian programs, culture, and heritage, as well as a commitment to fostering cultural identity and educational success among students. The Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the school, students, families, and community, organizing activities and meetings to promote positive engagement and support for American Indian students and families. Key Responsibilities: &#9679; Direct Student Support: Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic oversight for American Indian and First Nation students, promoting educational success and cultural identity. &#9679; Family and Community Engagement: Serve as a primary liaison between the school and American Indian families, facilitating clear and effective communication to support student development. &#9679; Program Implementation: Implement goals identified in the American Indian Education Program application, ensuring alignment with school and district priorities. &#9679; Student Activities: Plan and lead culturally enriching activities and events that support students' cultural identity and foster a sense of community. &#9679; Academic Support: Oversee academic progress, providing individualized support to address students' needs and coordinating with teachers and staff as needed. &#9679; Parent Committee Organization: Organize and lead American Indian Parent Committee meetings, creating a collaborative space for input and support from parents and guardians. &#9679; Administrative Duties: Manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain organized records related to student support and program activities. &#9679; Computer Skills: Proficiently use Google Docs, Google Classroom, Skyward, and other relevant platforms to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff. Qualifications: &#9679; Cultural Knowledge and Experience: In-depth knowledge of American Indian programs, culture, and heritage; experience working effectively with American Indian students, families, and communities. &#9679; Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with culturally diverse students, families, and staff. &#9679; Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with experience managing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks effectively. &#9679; Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Skyward, with the ability to adapt to other computer-based systems as needed. &#9679; Education and Experience: Prior experience in a role involving direct support to American Indian students or families is preferred.
