Job Summary
An Instructional Coach based in Equity supports teaching staff in fostering a racially equitable, anti-racist, and inclusive learning environments for all scholars; work collaboratively with the building principal to support the development and delivery of effective instructional strategies in applying curricular, instructional, and assessment expertise into action; provides supports in coaching and building capacity to staff to use culturally responsive teaching, unites all building programs and staff using one overarching school-wide vision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Work with grade level and/or department members to identify opportunities for improvement regarding curriculum, instructional strategies, learner outcomes, student wellness, content standards, scheduling efficiency, and assessments.
* Provide verbal and/or written communication to/from colleagues regarding information relevant to the implementation of the school-wide model and framework, Minnesota content standards, federal and state mandates, learner outcomes, and district-developed student assessments.
* Assist principal with the development of school improvement plans.
* Assist principal and staff in implementing student achievement strategies as found in school improvement plans.
* Plan staff development throughout the school year that is in line with school improvement goals.
* Participate in and assist with managing staff development and school improvement budgets.
* Work to place/align content standards that have been assigned to a curricular area in grade levels and/or courses.
* Serve as liaison to grade level and/or department(s) in the building.
* Support building colleagues in the implementation of approved curricula.
* Assist the orientation and support throughout the year of new staff and staff in new teaching assignments.
* Ability to meet after school, outside of student contact time.
* Ability to attend planning meetings in Summer to establish building goals and school improvement plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive teaching strategies, critical race theory, White privilege, and educational equity
* Experience implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching strategies
* Demonstrated knowledge of designing and providing adult learning
* Experience coaching and facilitation skills
* Exemplary planning and organizational skills
* Experience working with diverse populations of students
* Understanding and experience in using student data to guide instruction
* Well versed in the research, theory and practices of content instruction
* Possesses qualities of a life-long learner
* Ability to develop and foster effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
* Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
* Show initiative, function as a self-starter, and be solution focused.
* Thorough understanding of curriculum, standards, and best practices.
* Know, interpret, and follow District and school policy.
* Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Education/Certification Requirements
* Current teaching license issued by MN Department of Education.
Experience Requirements
* Coaching experience preferred
* Inquiry-based framework experience preferred
