Social Studies Teacher, Middle School - The Blake School

The Blake School seeks a creative and reflective Middle School social studies teacher who is eager to help students investigate both United States histories and global developments. The department guides student inquiry about contemporary issues by asking, &#8220;How did we get here?&#8221; The teacher will work collaboratively with one or more partners within the department to design inquiry-based units within a grade-level curriculum. The social studies team aspires to draw from best practices in project-based learning, historical-thinking skills and media literacy to develop foundational skills in reading, research, academic conversation and writing. We are eager to meet candidates who have experience working with adolescents to foster a community committed to pluralism, curiosity and empathy. Experience and Skills: This is a 1.0 FTE position beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity and lived experience that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences. Blake provides substantial resources for professional learning in areas including adolescent development, learning differences and intercultural competence. Blake will cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town. The committee will begin reviewing applications in early January.
