This position works with small groups for pull out support and also provides push in support during language arts classes. Key Responsibilities include by are not limited to: * Provide push in/pull out support services for identified English Language Learners * Effectively use proven English language development teaching strategies for all levels of English Learners * Screen potential students for EL services and notify families * Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which establishes high academic and behavior standards. * Show success and expertise teaching elementary students * Create effective unit plans, lesson plans and instructional materials. * Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. * Teach all approved curricula with fidelity. * Collaborate with existing English Language Development and Intervention teachers to meet the needs of all students. * Implement and support the school-wide approach to classroom management and discipline. * Administer and use weekly assessment data (and standardized test data) to make instructional decisions. * Prepare and maintain appropriate records and progress reports. * Help to promote and maintain a professional and collaborative environment. * Exhibit positive rapport and build strong relationships with students. * Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents/guardians. * Substitute teach in classrooms as needed Required Qualifications: * Be a licensed ELL/ESL teacher in Minnesota (or be eligible to be licensed at time of hiring) * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work with diverse student and staff populations Preferred Qualifications: * Experience teaching elementary students in an urban school * Demonstrated success with teaching English Language Learners * Fluency (ideally) or proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, Somali or Oromo About Our School: Northeast College Prep (NECP) is a diverse, Kindergarten &#8211; 8th-grade public charter school with approximately 275 students. Our mission is to ensure strong academic, social-emotional, and talent development in every member of our diverse student body, thereby positioning each student for college graduation, career success, and positive community impact. Founded as a diverse school committed to strong academics and social-emotional learning, our curious students learn about themselves and the world around them. All students take Art, Spanish, Arabic, and Physical Education. Social-emotional learning lessons are explicitly taught and woven throughout the day and we partner with community organizations to develop each students&#8217; unique talents. Teaching at Northeast College Prep: At Northeast College Prep, elementary classroom teachers in grades Kindergarten - fifth grade are self-contained (teach all subjects to one class of about 25 students). Students attend specialist classes (Art, Physical Education, Spanish and Arabic) on a rotating schedule. Teachers supervise students at recess and during breakfast, creating more informal time for teachers and students to develop relationships. Outside of this time, teachers have 45 minutes of preparation time, a duty-free lunch, and additional daily time to meet with other teachers and staff. We are a Responsive Classroom school that believes in restorative practices and teaching intrinsic motivation (i.e. we don't use extrinsic motivation like candy or public behavior charts to motivate students) so that students do the right thing even if no one is watching. Some students are supported with positive behavior charts that use incentives such as quality time with an adult or a choice activity. NECP exists to ensure that all children have access to an education that will help them to maximize their options in life, thereby contributing to a more just society. Our students and their families speak 14 different primary languages. About 50% qualify for English Language Learning services and about 90% qualify for free or reduced lunch and around 12% qualify for Special Education. Compensation: A competitive salary and full benefits will be offered. Base salary for 2024-2025 was $42,664 for candidates with a bachelor&#8217;s degree and $47,998 for candidates with a master&#8217;s degree. A full salary schedule is available upon request.
