We are looking for a fellow who loves working with elementary / middle school age kids, who is a team player. Purpose of this Position:
The goals of the teaching fellow positions are to build the instructional skills, knowledge, and mindsets necessary to be a core content lead teacher in the future, while also supporting the across the school in varied ways to ensure strong instruction, culture and operations. The teaching fellow will work toward these objectives by…
* Being paired with a mentor teacher who will serve a model for strong instruction. The teaching fellow will work with their mentor regularly. Over the course of the year, the relationship will evolve from observing and meeting with the mentor teacher to supporting and engaging in portions of the mentor teacher’s roles.
* Serving as a substitute teacher to provide instruction, encourage student progress, and manage the learning environment.
* Working as an assistant teacher or a tutor.
* Supporting the principal and front office teams with school-wide tasks and needs.

The salary range for this position is $35,000-40,000.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or higher
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Pass background check
* Complete “Essential 3” training
* Collaborate with colleagues and families and maintain a collegial atmosphere in and out of the classroom.
* Self-motivated and work independently toward tasks and goals
* Demonstrate ability to learn and implement new educational strategies
* Effectively manage a classroom of students
* Take direction from the principal and effectively complete tasks, processes and procedures as directed.
* Preferred: A Valid Minnesota Short Call Substitute Teacher License or a teacher license
* Proficient in the use of a computer, printer and other common classroom technology and equipment to provide for effective student learning
* Recognize and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
Work an average of forty (40) or more hours per week (or comparable hours for less than full-time employees)
Be able to move around a room for long periods of time
Be able to move throughout the building easily and quickly
Be able to respond to the needs of students relative to their developmental needs
Be able to speak, see, hear and respond to students at all times
Be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds using proper lifting and carrying techniques
