Position Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher Reports to: Building Principal FLSA Status: Exempt FTE: 1.0 Start Date: Fall 2025 Job Summary: Educate, plan, teach, facilitate and evaluate the students of GFW Public Schools in the educational process as defined by local and state department regulations and guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instructional Planning and Preparation * Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy * Demonstrate knowledge of students * Select instructional goals * Demonstrate knowledge of resources * Design coherent instruction * Assess student learning Classroom Environment * Create an environment of respect and rapport * Establish a culture for learning * Manage classroom procedures * Manage student behavior * Organize physical space Instructional Interaction * Communicate clearly and accurately * Use questioning and discussion techniques * Engage students in learning * Provide feedback to students * Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness Professional Responsibilities * Reflect on teaching * Maintain accurate records * Communicate with families * Contribute to the school and district * Grow and develop professionally * Show professionalism Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualification Requirements: * Degree: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Education or relevant instructional subject area * License: * Licensed teachers in the State of MN with appropriate licensure for assigned areas of responsibility or proof of pending approved licensure * Experience: * Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking and seeing. Salary and Benefits: * Salary: * Range: $45,500 - $73,500 * Salary placement is based on experience and education level as per district guidelines * Benefits: * Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision insurances, district-provided life insurance and long-term disability insurance, and supplemental insurance options, in addition to 403b plans. * For additional salary and benefits information, view the Certified Contract.
