SOCIAL WORKER Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a full time school social worker for the 2025-2026 school year. Rochester Beacon Academy (RBA) is a 6th-12th grade charter school that places a strong emphasis on providing individualized attention to students. The school has small class sizes, allowing teachers to provide students with focused and personalized instruction. RBA also has a special focus on serving students with special education needs, with close to 80% of the student body receiving such services. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing these students with the support and resources they need to succeed in school and beyond. Your job responsibilities includes but are not limited to: * Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. * Assess students&#8217; needs and develop intervention strategies to enhance their academic and personal success. * Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student concerns and improve school climate. * Identify and connect students and families with community resources such as mental health services, housing, and financial assistance. * Develop and implement programs to address issues such as bullying, attendance, substance abuse, and family crises. * Advocate for students&#8217; rights and well-being within the school and community. * Conduct home visits to assess family needs and provide support when necessary. * Maintain accurate and confidential case records and documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards. * Provide crisis intervention and support students in emergency situations. * Educate students, parents, and staff on social and emotional development, conflict resolution, and coping strategies. * Stay informed on best practices in school social work and participate in professional development opportunities. Qualifications: * Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution. * State licensure or certification as a School Social Worker (if applicable). * Previous experience in a school setting is preferred. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school personnel. * Knowledge of child development, mental health issues, and crisis intervention strategies. * Strong problem-solving and advocacy skills. * Compassionate, empathetic, and culturally competent approach to working with diverse populations.
