Visual Arts Teacher - K-5 - St. James Public Schools

Job Summary:
St. James Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond at Northside Elementary School.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate an effective educational learning environment to meet the needs of a diverse community of learners.
Develop and maintain a program to meet the individual needs of each student in meeting the district’s standards.
Maintain a safe positive learning environment.
Participates in parent/teacher conferences; interprets student strengths, weaknesses and/or problems that the student may be experiencing in the classroom.
Works as a collaborative staff member in planning instructional goals and objectives.
Evaluate and assess student learning on a regular basis for the purpose of adjusting instruction and measuring student learning.
Is an effective communicator with students, parents, staff and community members.
Develops student assessments and evaluates results.
Other duties as assigned
Specific Responsibilities:
Serve on the Arts Leadership Team as a Turnaround Arts Partner School with the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Design and execute the schoolwide community arts kickoff for Open House night
Collaborate with grade level teachers to extend learning from the classroom into the visual arts space
Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree required
K-12 Art Education license required, or the ability to obtain one
Salary and Benefits:
Competitive salary and benefits package. For more information, please see the SJPS Master Agreement 2023-2025. Salary range listed ($42,645-$82,356) is based on the collective bargaining agreement for the 2024-2025 school year, the 2025-2026 collective bargaining agreement has yet to be negotiated.
