Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning Department: Teacher Works with: Staff Development Committee, Curriculum and Instruction Committee, MTSS Committee, Spartan Network, Academic Administrators and teaching staff. Job Summary: The Literacy Lead Instructional Coach will play a key role in improving literacy instruction across the district, with a special focus on supporting and guiding the district wide implementation of the Minnesota READ Act. This position is designed for a skilled educator who is passionate about elevating literacy achievement, providing instructional support, and building teacher capacity through a collaborative coaching model. The Instructional Coach will work closely with teachers, school leaders, and district administrators to implement research-based literacy practices, monitor progress, and ensure effective, data-informed instructional strategies that align with the Minnesota READ Act requirements and literacy goals. Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Instructional Support and Coaching * Provide on-site coaching and support for teachers, focusing on evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the MN READ Act. * Model best practices in literacy instruction and facilitate classroom observations, co-teaching, and collaborative planning to enhance teachers' instructional skills. 2. Professional Development * Design, deliver, and assess professional development sessions to support literacy instruction and increase teacher understanding of the MN READ Act&#8217;s goals and expectations. * Organize ongoing learning opportunities, workshops, and collaborative planning sessions to build teacher capacity in evidence-based literacy practices and ensure fidelity to program implementation. 3. Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring * Analyze literacy data from a variety of sources (e.g., screening, formative, and summative assessments) to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning. * Collaborate with teachers to implement data-driven instructional adjustments and set individualized goals for students in need of additional literacy support. * Support the use of district assessment tools and help teachers interpret results to inform instruction and meet MN READ Act requirements. 4. Collaboration and Communication * Work collaboratively with school and district leadership to support the vision and goals of the MN READ Act and district literacy initiatives. * Facilitate communication among teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders regarding literacy initiatives, professional development, and best practices. 5. Continuous Improvement and Reflective Practice * Stay current on research, practices, and resources in literacy instruction and state standards. * Reflect on coaching practices and outcomes to continuously improve coaching effectiveness and support for teacher growth 6. Competencies * Thorough understanding of pedagogy and best practices within education * Understanding of adult learning principles and group facilitation * Understanding of curriculum and MN English/Language Arts Standards * Understanding of how the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MnMTSS) Framework serves as the overarching infrastructure within which evidence-based literacy practices are operationalized in order to maximize student outcomes 7. Other duties as assigned Job Requirements 1. Valid teaching license; advanced degree in literacy, reading specialist certification, or equivalent preferred. 2. Successful completion of LETRS for Educators. 3. Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in education, with a proven track record of successful literacy instruction. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of the Minnesota READ Act, literacy assessments, and data-driven instructional practices. The position is included in the Education Minnesota-ROCORI Local #7226 Master Agreement Salary range $45,818 to $86,996 - depending on education and experience.
