Job Summary
Speech-language pathologists provide a complete array of services to students with identified communication challenges, including students whose primary disability is “speech-language impairment” and students with primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication. This position will serve early childhood special education students (ages 3-5) in our early childhood settings.
Employee Group: Teachers
FLSA status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Student Services and Building Principal(s)
Salary Range: $44,929 - $102,918
Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teachers' Collectively Bargained Agreement.
Job Functions
Assessment & Evaluation:
* Conduct assessments, create comprehensive report results, and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines.
Intervention & Therapy:
* Provide direct speech and language therapy services in individual and small-group settings.
* Develop and implement educational plans as described on individual IEP or IFSP and train building staff as needed.
* Implement the use of augmentative and assistive technology devices for communication.
Collaboration & Consultation:
* Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
* Support the district’s mission, vision and values.
* Contribute to and participate in the building student support teams.
* Serve as an IEP case manager for students with speech-language impairments.
* Facilitate team meetings to review student progress and develop IEPs as related to student needs.
* Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
* Collaborate with students, families, related service providers, outside agencies, and other team members to promote growth of each student.
* Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building training as needed.
* Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
* Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum including the grade level outcomes and state standards.
* Participate in building and district level professional development activities.
Documentation & Compliance:
* Adhere to federal and state statutes and rules related to individualized service, third party billing, and due process.
* Maintain appropriate records and reports. Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet all required timelines.
* Determine and complete purchase orders for supplies, materials, and equipment based on student needs.
* Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the Director of Student Services and/or the Building Principal.
* Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required:
* Minnesota State licensure in Speech and Language.
* Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) – ASHA Certification.
* Ability to travel between sites as needed.
* Excellent technology skills.

* Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
* Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required including close vision.
