Special Education (SPED) Teacher Gateway STEM Academy Location: Burnsville, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2024-2025 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education (SPED) Teacher to join our team. The SPED Teacher will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive a high-quality, inclusive education that fosters academic and social-emotional growth. This position requires strong collaboration with general education teachers, specialists, paraprofessionals, and families to develop and implement effective educational plans tailored to student needs. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students' specific learning needs, goals, and accommodations. * Provide direct instruction in a variety of settings, including inclusion, resource, and pull-out models. * Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom environments to support diverse learners. * Utilize data-driven assessment tools to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. * Work closely with parents, caregivers, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive support for students. * Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans and social-emotional learning strategies. * Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations and maintain accurate documentation. * Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development opportunities. * Foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds, including Gateway STEM Academy&#8217;s primarily East African student population. Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master&#8217;s degree preferred). * Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education (or ability to obtain licensure). * Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting. * Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff. * Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
