1st Grade Teacher Gateway STEM Academy Location: Burnsville, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2024-2025 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1st Grade Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports young learners in developing foundational literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. This role requires a strong commitment to culturally responsive teaching, student-centered instruction, and fostering a love for learning in an academically rigorous environment. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that support students' academic and social-emotional growth. * Utilize research-based instructional strategies to build literacy and numeracy skills. * Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including English Language Learners and students requiring additional support. * Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success. * Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. * Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to create a cohesive learning experience for students. * Implement classroom management strategies that support student responsibility and a sense of community. * Communicate regularly with families about student progress, classroom activities, and ways to support learning at home. * Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). * Valid Minnesota teaching license for elementary education (or eligibility for licensure). * Experience teaching in an early elementary setting, with a strong understanding of literacy and numeracy instruction. * Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. * Proficiency in using student data to drive instruction and improve outcomes.
