Middle School ELA Teacher Gateway STEM Academy Location: Burnsville, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2024-2025 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire and challenge students in grades 6-8 through engaging, rigorous instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. This role requires a strong commitment to culturally responsive teaching, student-centered learning, and preparing students with the literacy skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned ELA lessons that build students&#8217; reading comprehension, writing, and analytical skills. * Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including discussion-based learning, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction. * Foster a classroom culture that promotes a love for reading, effective communication, and critical thinking. * Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. * Provide meaningful feedback on student work to support growth in writing and literacy. * Incorporate diverse texts and perspectives to support culturally relevant and inclusive instruction. * Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to support student learning and well-being. * Maintain high expectations for student engagement, behavior, and academic achievement. * Communicate regularly with families about student progress, classroom activities, and ways to support literacy at home. * Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement. Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master&#8217;s degree preferred). * Valid Minnesota teaching license in 5-12 Communication Arts and Literature. * Experience teaching middle school ELA, with strong knowledge of literacy instruction, writing pedagogy, and adolescent learners. * Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. * Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive relationships with middle school students. * Proficiency in using student data to drive instruction and improve outcomes. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
