Middle School Science Teacher Gateway STEM Academy Location: Burnsville, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2024-2025 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a passionate and innovative Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for scientific exploration in students in grades 6-8. This role requires a strong commitment to inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, and culturally responsive teaching to ensure all students develop a deep understanding of science concepts and their real-world applications. Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned science lessons in physical, life, and earth sciences. * Utilize hands-on experiments, project-based learning, and technology to deepen student understanding of scientific concepts. * Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, inquiry, and scientific problem-solving. * Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. * Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. * Connect scientific concepts to real-world applications, STEM careers, and cross-disciplinary learning. * Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s STEM-focused curriculum. * Maintain high expectations for student engagement, behavior, and academic achievement. * Communicate regularly with families about student progress and ways to support learning at home. * Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). * Valid Minnesota teaching license in Science. * Experience teaching middle school science, with knowledge of best practices in science instruction. * Commitment to inquiry-based, hands-on science learning and culturally responsive teaching. * Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with middle school students. * Proficiency in using student data to drive instruction and improve outcomes. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
