English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher Gateway STEM Academy Location: Burnsville, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2024-2025 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a dedicated English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to support our diverse student population. The ELL Teacher will provide high-quality language instruction and support to multilingual learners, ensuring they develop the academic English skills needed to succeed across all subject areas. The ideal candidate is passionate about language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and collaborative approaches to instruction. Key Responsibilities * Design and implement engaging, research-based instruction to support English learners in acquiring language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. * Develop and adapt lesson plans that align with WIDA standards and Minnesota state standards. * Provide both push-in and pull-out services, collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate language instruction across content areas. * Assess students using language proficiency tools (e.g., ACCESS, WIDA Screener) and use data to tailor instruction. * Work with classroom teachers and support staff to develop strategies for differentiating instruction for ELL students. * Monitor and document student progress, communicating regularly with families and staff about student growth. * Advocate for ELL students and ensure equitable access to academic content. * Provide professional development and coaching to teachers on best practices for supporting English learners. * Support the development of students&#8217; cultural identity and bilingualism, fostering an inclusive classroom environment. Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master&#8217;s degree preferred). * Valid Minnesota ELL teaching license. * Experience working with English learners, preferably in a K-8 setting. * Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and best practices for ELL instruction. * Proficiency in WIDA standards and experience using language proficiency assessments. * Culturally responsive teaching mindset with the ability to build strong relationships with multilingual students and families. * Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
