Position Summary
Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Burnsville, MN, is seeking a passionate and skilled Reading Intervention Teacher to provide targeted literacy support for students struggling with reading. The ideal candidate will use evidence-based instructional strategies to accelerate student progress, close achievement gaps, and foster a love of reading. This role requires strong collaboration with classroom teachers, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to culturally responsive literacy instruction.
Key Responsibilities
Provide small-group and one-on-one reading interventions based on student needs.
Use evidence-based reading strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and Minnesota state standards.
Administer and analyze reading assessments (e.g., FAST, MCA) to identify student needs and monitor progress.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy support into core instruction.
Develop and implement personalized intervention plans to support students at various proficiency levels.
Utilize structured literacy approaches, including phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies.
Maintain accurate student data and communicate progress with families, teachers, and support staff.
Provide professional development and coaching for teachers on effective literacy instruction and intervention strategies.
Advocate for students who need additional reading support and ensure equitable access to literacy resources.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education, Reading, or a related field (or eligibility for licensure).
Specialized training in reading intervention programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, CORE, PRESS, or similar preferred).
Experience using data-driven instruction to improve student reading outcomes.
Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and structured literacy approaches.
Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with teachers, families, and support staff.
Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and closing literacy achievement gaps.
