Metro Schools College Prep is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education teacher to join our team. As a public charter school, we are committed to providing our diverse student population with a high-quality education that prepares them for college and beyond. As a school, we work every day to improve our students&#8217; chances to attend the college or university of their choice, and to help them become global citizens. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, flexible, and have a passion for supporting our special education students. Our school serves a diverse population, approximately 90% being English Language (EL) students, and 99% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. As such, we are looking for a teacher who is culturally responsive, holds high expectations for all students, and works hard to meet the unique needs of our students. Responsibilities: &#8226; Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs &#8226; Provide instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student &#8226; Utilize PBIS and restorative practices to support students with challenging behaviors &#8226; Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a comprehensive learning environment &#8226; Use learning technology and assistive devices to enhance student engagement and learning &#8226; Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed &#8226; Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional development &#8226; Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and productive learning environment Develop and modify curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students Qualifications: &#8226; Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred) &#8226; MN teaching license in Special Education or the ability to obtain one &#8226; Experience working with children with special needs &#8226; Familiarity with PBIS, Restorative Practices and other behavior intervention approaches &#8226; Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities &#8226; Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues &#8226; Proficiency in using learning technology and assistive devices in the classroom If you are a dedicated and passionate individual who is committed to helping all students succeed, we encourage you to apply for this position.
