Job Summary: Provide classroom instruction in Hmong Language and Culture.
Responsibilities
* Teach Hmong language to K-8 students.
* Incorporate Hmong culture into class activities.
* Infuse the Minnesota graduation standards for foreign language into the ongoing curriculum.
* Develop cultural curriculum materials and instructional strategies for elementary students.
* Incorporate hands-on learning activities into daily instruction.
* Communicate often with parents regarding the program goals, classroom activities and student progress.
* Provide a safe classroom environment for students.
* Collaborate with grade-level teams, administrators and other staff to ensure the success of students.
Requirements:
* A valid Minnesota K-12 school teaching license.
* Proficiency in the Hmong and English languages.
* Extensive knowledge of world culture.
* Current connection/ primary role within cultural community
Preferred:
* Successful elementary or middle school teaching experience.
* Ability to implement creative and innovative teaching strategies.
* Good organizational skills.
* Flexibility relating to student and program needs.
* Effective oral and written communication skills in Hmong and English.
* Work cooperatively with parents as educational partners.
* Commitment to the philosophy that all children can learn.
* Commitment to teamwork within an educational setting.
* Ability to write curriculum appropriate for elementary student levels.
