POSITION TITLE: Special Education Inclusive Learning & Behavior Coordinator REPORTS TO: Executive Director POSITION OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of the Special Education Inclusive Learning & Behavior coordinator is to provide leadership and oversight of the day to day functions of the DaVinci Academy Special Education paraprofessionals and support programs as they align with the mission and vision of the school. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Inclusive Learning and Behavior Development Coordinator is responsible for implementing programming, strategies, and interventions to support positive student behavior and promote a safe and conducive learning environment. This role involves collaborating with the SPED Director and Coordinator, the building Assistant Principal, teachers, other administrators, students, and parents to address behavior challenges and develop effective behavior plans. 1.) Behavioral Assessment: - Conduct functional behavioral assessments to identify underlying causes of challenging behaviors. - Analyze behavior data and observations to determine patterns and triggers. - Collaborate with teachers and staff to gather information about student behavior. - Provide training and professional development to SPED staff around behavioral supports 2.) Behavior Intervention Planning: - Develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment results. - Design strategies and interventions to address specific behavioral goals and objectives. - Provide clear and actionable recommendations to teachers and support staff. - Review IEP&#8217;s and amend to include behavior supports 3.) Implementation and Training: - Train teachers, staff, and parents on behavior intervention techniques and strategies. - Model and demonstrate effective behavior management techniques. - Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure consistent implementation of interventions. 4.) Data Collection and Analysis: - Monitor and record student behavior data to track progress and make data-driven decisions. - Analyze behavior data to identify trends and adjust interventions as needed. - Maintain accurate and organized records of behavior plans and outcomes. 5.) Collaboration: - Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other specialists to develop cohesive behavior support plans. - Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to share progress and strategies. - Attend team meetings to discuss student progress and adjust interventions as necessary. 6.) Crisis Management: - Intervene in crisis situations involving escalated behavior, ensuring the safety of all students and staff. - Implement de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and prevent potential harm. 7.) Professional Development: - Stay updated on current research, best practices, and trends in behavior intervention and special education. - Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences related to behavior management and intervention. 8.) Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of behavior assessments, plans, and progress. - Generate reports and summaries for teachers, administrators, and parents as required. 9.) Resource Development: - Develop and compile resources, materials, and tools to support teachers and staff in behavior management. - Create visual aids, social stories, and other materials to assist students in understanding appropriate behaviors. 10.) Advocacy and Support: - Advocate for the inclusion and appropriate support of students with behavior challenges. - Collaborate with special education teams to ensure the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of a special education administrator; * Comprehensive knowledge of special education laws, rules, regulations, and procedures; * Thorough knowledge of leadership and management principles; * Ability to assist in hiring and supervising staff effectively; * Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and function under very stressful situations; * Ability to deal with and resolve difficult problems independently; * Ability to interpret and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures consistently; * Ability to process and use complicated data; * Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing; * Ability to present to small groups and large groups; * Ability to write reports and correspondence; * Ability to use modern office equipment, technology, and related software; * Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of a Special Education Teacher. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor&#8217;s degree required, masters degree preferred; * Considerable experience in a job-related field; * Embedded training, support and mentoring available. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATION * Minnesota licensure as special education teacher from the Minnesota Department of Education; * Administrative License Preferred, not required. POSITION TITLE:  Special Education Inclusive Learning & Behavior Coordinator

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of the Special Education Inclusive Learning & Behavior coordinator is to provide leadership and oversight of the day to day functions of the DaVinci Academy Special Education paraprofessionals and support programs as they align with the mission and vision of the school.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Inclusive Learning and Behavior Development Coordinator is responsible for implementing programming, strategies, and interventions to support positive student behavior and promote a safe and conducive learning environment.
