Breck School, an independent, college-preparatory school in Golden Valley, Minnesota, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic full-time Teaching Assistant to support our engaging Project Adventure and Outdoor Education program within the Middle School (Grades 5-8). This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with faculty to provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for our students. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for the outdoors and a strong belief in the educational value of adventure-based learning. They will assist in the planning and implementation of a variety of activities designed to foster teamwork, problem-solving skills, resilience, and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities Include: * Assisting lead teachers in the delivery of Project Adventure and Outdoor Education curriculum and activities. * Providing direct support and guidance to students during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and engagement. * Contributing to the development and preparation of materials and resources for program activities. * Supervising and actively participating in outdoor skills development, potentially including but not limited to: * Rock climbing (indoor and outdoor) * Canoeing and other paddling activities * Archery * Leading and facilitating a Middle School Advisory group, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for a small group of students. * Collaborating with faculty to integrate outdoor learning experiences with classroom curriculum. * Assisting with the maintenance and organization of program equipment. * Providing support during field trips and off-site program activities. * Other duties as assigned to support the Middle School and the Project Adventure/Outdoor Education program. Qualifications: * Experience and/or education in Outdoor Education, Adventure Education, experiential learning, or a related field is highly desirable. * Demonstrated experience and skills in outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, archery, or similar pursuits are preferred. * Experience working with middle school-aged students in an educational or recreational setting is beneficial. * Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. * Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. * A commitment to safety and risk management in outdoor environments. * Enthusiasm for fostering student growth and development through experiential learning.
