Summer Youth 14U Softball Coach Position: Summer Youth 14U Softball Coach Location: Laker YSA - Howard Lake, Waverly, Winsted Communities Duration: May-July (1-2 practices per week in beginning of season & 1-2 games per week the remaining part of the season) Job Description: We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and dedicated individual to serve as a Summer Youth 14U Softball Coach for our competitive team of athletes ages 14 and older. This position is ideal for someone with advanced knowledge of softball who is eager to help young athletes refine their skills, enhance their performance, and foster a team-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate will be committed to high-level coaching, developing strategic game plans, and ensuring that each player reaches their full potential. Key Responsibilities: * Lead structured and challenging practices focused on skill development, advanced techniques, and game strategy. * Plan and execute drills that address hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and situational softball play. * Develop and communicate game strategies, including pre-game preparation, in-game adjustments, and post-game analysis. * Foster a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment that encourages discipline, teamwork, and resilience. * Mentor athletes both on and off the field, helping them develop leadership skills and mental toughness. * Coordinate and assist with game schedules, team logistics, and communication with players and parents. * Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games. * Cultivate a strong sense of sportsmanship and respect among players, both for the game and each other. Qualifications: * Extensive experience in playing or coaching softball at a competitive level (high school, collegiate, or above). * Strong understanding of advanced softball techniques, strategies, and game mechanics. * Ability to teach and communicate complex concepts in a way that is clear and motivating for athletes ages 14+. * Proven leadership skills, with the ability to create a competitive yet supportive team environment. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with athletes and parents. Preferred Skills: * Experience coaching high school or older age group athletes in a competitive softball setting. * Ability to assess player strengths and weaknesses and tailor training to individual needs. * Experience with team strategy, including defensive and offensive game plans, as well as situational coaching. * Strong organizational and planning skills for managing team activities, schedules, and events.
