Major Responsibilities:
Performs complex professional work assisting the Principal developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the School Board, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Principal. Continuous oversight is exercised over all building staff and students.
Qualifications:
* Minnesota K-12 Principal License.
* Minnesota Teaching License.
* Experience working in a multi cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
* Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
* Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Functions
* Enforces discipline, health, safety and general welfare standards for students and staff within building.
* Observes classrooms and performs walk throughs; performs pre- and post-conference observations of teachers.
* Facilitates and attends various meetings.
* Addresses attendance and truancy issues by meeting with students, conducting parent calls, etc.; leads truancy team.
* Supervises hallways, lunchrooms, etc.
* Performs evening supervision at various events and functions including dances, athletic events, extra-curricular activities, etc.
* Assists with assigning, directing, training and reviewing staff work; assists with evaluating staff performance and developing staff schedules; coaches and/or counsels staff; provides recommendation regarding hiring, promoting, suspending and terminating staff.
* Assumes administrative duties and responsibilities in the absences of the principal as assigned.
* Assumes other duties as assigned by the principal.
* Works with building staff concerning issues related to student attendance, discipline, academic achievement and management.
* Assists with the development and implementation of operational guidelines in the areas of building organization, student control and conduct, community involvement in the school program, security of the school facility, staff utilization and student transportation.
* Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of IEP's (Individual Education Plans) cooperatively with the special services staff and may act as the designated administrator in those situations.
* Maintains accurate records that reflect discipline and behavior issues.
* Participates in various meetings, committees and workshops.
* Develops and maintains student interventions.
* Maintains staff and student handbooks.
* Assists with the development of the master schedule.
* Administers student discipline policies within district and building guidelines.
* Directs the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
* Assists with the supervision of co curricular programs and advisory programs.
* Acts as an advocate for equal educational opportunities for students.
* Works with alternative learning programs, student assistance programs, liaison programs and curricular programs.
* Works with the principal in the evaluation of building staff.
* Assists with the development of curriculum and instruction.
* Assists with the development of effective parental rapport with the school program.
