The Special Education Coordinator will work in collaboration with school administrators to develop and maintain child find, identification, assessment, placement and IEP development and review processes in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations. The Special Education Coordinator will provide and/or assist in providing professional development activities in order to increase knowledge and skills of special education staff, regular education teachers, administrators, and support staff. Key Responsibilities * Support case managers with due process procedures and compliance. * Guide and lead District Student Support Teams (SST) to improve student outcomes. * Provide data-driven recommendations to district administrators for staffing and program needs. * Offer insights for program improvements and curriculum selection. * Assist with state testing requirements for students with disabilities. * Support the hiring process for special education staff. * Act as a resource for building administrators on special education matters. * Assist in developing and coordinating Extended School Year (ESY) services. * Serve as a liaison between RRSEC and the district to strengthen collaboration. * Provide support in IEP meetings, particularly in challenging situations or disputes. * Assist administrators in file reviews related to disciplinary actions. * Gather and organize documentation as needed for due process complaints. * Design and deliver training for teachers and paraprofessionals on policies, procedures, and best practices. * Represent the district in regional and interagency committees. * Develop resources and materials for staff, students, and families. * Serve as an Administrative Designee when needed. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education. This position is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with expertise in special education compliance, instructional best practices, and team leadership. Qualifications: Special Education Teacher License or related field Minimum of 5 years teaching in Special Education or relevant professional level school experience preferred. Strong understanding of State and Federal special education laws, rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal skills to work with families, staff and outside agencies. Strong communication skills including writing, speaking and listening. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated experience in leadership in a department, school or district. Successful background check. Current Driver's License.
