Position Overview The Director of Library Services is responsible for managing the school’s library resources, fostering literacy and research skills, and supporting faculty and student learning. This role provides a unique opportunity to shape and modernize the library’s impact on the school community through programming, technology, and collaboration with academic departments. Shattuck-St. Mary’s teacher salaries are based on experience and start at $38,000. We encourage recent graduates to apply and grow with us. Key Responsibilities Library Management & Resource Curation: * Oversee the library’s collection, ensuring access to diverse and high-quality print and digital resources. * Maintain an inviting and organized library space that supports study, collaboration, and independent learning. * Manage circulation, cataloging, and library databases. Student & Faculty Support: * Promote literacy and a love of reading across all grade levels through book clubs, reading programs, and curated book lists. * Create a welcoming, flexible environment for studying, collaborating, or just taking a break. * Provide research instruction, assisting students in developing information literacy skills and responsible digital citizenship. * Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum development, recommending resources that enhance academic instruction. Library Programming & Engagement: * Develop and implement engaging library programs, workshops, and events to support student learning and inquiry. * Organize author visits, book fairs, and themed reading initiatives to foster a reading culture. * Explore opportunities for integrating emerging technologies and digital tools into library services. Administrative & Strategic Initiatives: * Oversee the library budget, purchasing, and vendor relations. * Oversee part-time library support staff. * Stay informed on trends in school libraries, educational technology, and information literacy. * Advocate for the library as a key academic resource within the school community. Qualifications & Skills * Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field preferred. * Experience working in a library, school, or educational setting preferred. * Passion for fostering literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning. * Strong organizational and communication skills. * Proficiency with library management systems and digital research tools. * Love for reading and student engagement.
