Position: Chemistry Teacher Date: July 1, 2025 Department: Faculty FLSA: Exempt Full-time/Part-time: Full-time (1.0) Supervisor: Principal, President Direct Reports: None Provides Work Direction to: None Receives Work Direction from: Principal, President Primary Function (Purpose of Position): A DeLaSalle High School Chemistry teacher will have a strong background in chemistry, effective teaching strategies, and a commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. This teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum, conducting laboratory experiments, and inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of chemistry. Ethical Standards: Employees of DeLaSalle High School must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of DeLaSalle High School. Their personal behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church, nor can it embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. Although specific positions may not require the employee to be of the Catholic faith, it is expected that all employees respect the Roman Catholic doctrine and religious practices. Reasonable accommodations for the religious practices of employees not of the Roman Catholic faith will similarly be provided. Representative Responsibilities: 1. Instruction & Curriculum Development: * Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and national curriculum standards. * Deliver high-quality instruction that incorporates various teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles. * Design and oversee hand-on laboratory experiments, ensuring student safety and compliance with school policies. * Integrate technology, real-world applications, and interdisciplinary approaches into chemistry lessons. * Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and other formative and summative assessments. 2. Classroom Management & Student Engagement: * Create a positive ad inclusive learning environment that promotes student participation and inquiry-based learning. * Establish clear classroom rules and expectations to maintain discipline and respect. * Provide individualized support and interventions for students who need additional help. * Encourage and inspire students to pursue higher education and careers in science-related fields. 3. Collaboration & Professional Development: * Work collaboratively with other science faculty and interdisciplinary teams to enhance the overall science curriculum. * Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities. * Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns. * Serve as a mentor or advisor to students in academic and extracurricular activities 4. Lab & Safety Responsibilities: * Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, ensuring proper storage and handling of chemicals. * Conduct routine checks of lab equipment and request repairs or replacements as needed. * Instruct students on proper laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures. Other Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities identified as needed by employer and approved and/or assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or related field; Master&#8217;s degree preferred. * Teaching certification. * Proven experience teaching high school Chemistry, with a thorough understanding of curriculum and exam requirements. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. * Passion for fostering creativity and a love for working with high school students. Expected Job Requirements: * Demonstrated ability to work well with others. * Ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff. * Must be dependable and punctual. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Works in such a manner to provide positive and timely communication with students and parents while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. * Ability to collaborate with and support other staff as directed. * Manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions. * Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the mission of DeLaSalle High School. * Attend all staff meetings as required. * Able to work 40+ hours a week or whatever is required &#8211; including occasional weekend and evening work. * Ability to lift and move using proper techniques up to and including 25 pounds.
