Park Rapids Area Schools is seeking a skilled candidate for a 1.0 FTE position in AFNR Education or Trades and Industry - Manufacturing and/or Transportation to join our dedicated Career and Technical Education team for the 25-26 school year. This position is flexible and courses offered will be tailored to the hired candidate, so that we can continue to maintain and expand our offerings in Career and Technical Education for grades 7-12. The candidate should either hold a valid, relevant Minnesota teaching license, or be eligible for a Tier 1, 2, or 3 license based on industry experience. Additionally, the Work-Based Learning (WBL) endorsement (function code 160000) is preferred, but not required.
Career and Technical Education is a strong, growing, vital part of Park Rapids Area Schools. Over the last five years, Park Rapids Area Schools has made significant investments in expanding our staff, renovating our school building, and improving our CTE laboratory spaces. CTE space upgrades include a commercial kitchen lab space, renovated woodshop, renovated welding shop, and the addition of a two-bay automotive lab space. These advancements will allow us to provide high-level skill training for our students in a wide variety of areas.
The ideal Agricultural Education (function code 010100) candidate will have skills and experiences that both complement and expand our current 7-12th grade AFNR course offerings in Animal Systems, Plant Systems, Natural Resources, Food Systems, and Power, Structural, and Technical Systems. Current AFNR courses taught by our team include Trapper Education, Ag 7/8, Intro to Agriculture, Companion Animal Care, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Forestry, Minnesota Outdoors, Minnesota Wildlife, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Turfgrass Management, Nutrition in the Kitchen, Food Science, World Foods, and Jr./Sr. Capstone. Courses taught by the candidate will be tailored to the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise. The Agricultural Education position includes the opportunity to earn an extended contract, if desired.
The ideal Trades and Industry (function code 300200 and/or 300700) candidate will have experience in both manufacturing and transportation as well as experience in engaging students in grades 7-12: current courses taught with this position include both introductory and advanced courses in Small Engines, Welding, Automotive & Power Equipment, and Machining. Courses offered will be tailored to the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise.
Regardless of focus, the candidate should be prepared for the following responsibilities:
Safely managing and maintaining a laboratory/shop space, as well as managing a positive learning environment for students,
Developing and implementing engaging, hands-on curriculum for grades 7-12,
Working closely with colleagues and the district to expand and promote Career and Technical Education at Park Rapids Area Schools,
Collaborating with industry professionals and the community to provide students with career exploration opportunities, and
Participating in professional development opportunities to grow and expand knowledge and skills in the content area.

Pay range $$41,647- $79,396, Education and Years of service calculated. *CBA expires 6/30/2025 and will be subject to negotiations for the 2025-2026 SY.
