Job Title: Special Education Instructor - 1.0 FTE
About PiM Arts High School:
PiM Arts High School is a tuition-free, public charter high school open to all students in grades 9 through 12 in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Since 2004, our rigorous performing arts and academic curriculum has provided a rewarding environment for student artists to grow.
Students are engaged each day in classes that challenge them to expand their academic achievement and their artistry. PiM Arts High School offers classes in Vocal and Instrumental Music, Theatre, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Visual and Media Arts with arts endorsement options in each area. PiM Arts High School has advanced level classes in all academic areas, with additional electives offered. Our program meets and exceeds all state mandates in academic provisions, while also providing artistic rigor with the fullest performance calendar of any four-year performing arts high school in the Twin Cities.
Qualifications:
Minnesota K-12 SpEd licensure required; previous experience with secondary aged students with academic and behavior needs
Excellent knowledge of due process and all paperwork regarding special education
Demonstrated preparation, skill and commitment to providing for the individual learning needs of all students
Skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches
Comfortable with change, self-motivated, dedicated, responsible and on time with due process paperwork
Skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents
Experience in co teaching or inclusion models
Varied interest/talents/experiences beyond the content area
Knowledge in the areas of math/science preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
• Case manage students in grades 9 -12
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers to provide accommodations for students with special needs
• Implement the curriculum and/or develop curriculum individually, in small groups and in the regular education classroom for adolescent students having moderate to severe learning difficulties and/or emotional behavioral disabilities.
• Serve as case manager for students with IEPs demonstrating the ability to do data collection, assess student performance, conduct IEP meetings, and communicate effectively with parents and staff
• Additional duties as assigned by administrator meet deadlines and be responsible for organization of all due process and related procedures
